Stage 3 Consulting

Our approach

The tagline is the method.

Outsmart. Outpace. Outperform. is the sequence the work runs in, not a line on a cover slide. Three phases, each with an input, an action and an output — and none of them starts before the previous one has earned it.

Like the optimal line through a corner, the route is chosen before the corner arrives. That is the whole argument for doing the first phase properly.

  1. 01

    Outsmart

    Understand before acting.

  2. 02

    Outpace

    Turn insight into action faster.

  3. 03

    Outperform

    Create measurable advantage.

Phase 01

Outsmart

Understand before acting.

Interrogate the business question behind the brief. Challenge the assumption the brief was built on before spending a rupee on fieldwork.

Inputs

What the phase needs before it can start.

  • The brief as written — and the decision sitting behind it
  • What the organisation already believes to be true
  • Evidence already held internally: earlier studies, category and sales data
  • Access to the people who will have to act on the answer

Actions

The work itself, in the order it is done.

  1. Research
  2. Listen
  3. Diagnose
  4. Analyse
  5. Challenge assumptions

15+ years in research and insights, on both the client and the agency side, sits on the diagnosis — not on a delivery team that inherits it afterwards.

Outputs

What the phase hands to the next one.

  • The business question, restated in the terms the decision needs
  • The assumptions that did not survive scrutiny, named early
  • A research design scoped to that question rather than to a standard template
  • What we will deliberately not study, and why

Phase 02

Outpace

Turn insight into action faster.

Prioritise what actually moves the decision, model the options, and commit. Speed comes from knowing what to ignore.

Inputs

What the phase needs before it can start.

  • The agreed question, and the design built to answer it
  • Fieldwork and data from the study itself
  • The real constraints: budget, capability and the calendar
  • The date by which the decision has to be taken

Actions

The work itself, in the order it is done.

  1. Prioritise
  2. Model
  3. Decide
  4. Build strategy
  5. Execute

Fieldwork runs through a nationwide interviewer and recruiter network across all key cities of Pakistan. Back-checking, 100% editing of completed interviews and verification of recruits against the approved screener happen during fieldwork, not after it.

Outputs

What the phase hands to the next one.

  • The options that survive, ranked against the decision at hand
  • A recommended move, with the reasoning that supports it
  • A strategy sequenced into first, next and later
  • The trade-offs being accepted, stated rather than buried

Phase 03

Outperform

Create measurable advantage.

Measure what changed, optimise against it, and scale what works — so the advantage compounds instead of expiring.

Inputs

What the phase needs before it can start.

  • The decision taken, and what it was expected to change
  • The measures agreed before execution started
  • Performance readings once the move is live
  • The assumptions now worth revisiting

Actions

The work itself, in the order it is done.

  1. Measure
  2. Optimise
  3. Adapt
  4. Scale
  5. Improve

Thirty years of statistical analysis — Aftab, then Nielsen — sits behind what the measurement is allowed to claim.

Outputs

What the phase hands to the next one.

  • A plain read on what changed, and what did not
  • Adjustments to the parts that are underperforming
  • The parts that work, scaled rather than rebuilt by hand each time
  • The question that opens the next cycle

At the end of each phase

Each phase closes with something you can act on.

A phase is finished when you hold the thing it was run to produce — not when the calendar says the stage is over.

End of phase 01

Outsmart

  • The business question, agreed in writing
  • The assumptions to be tested, and those already discounted
  • A research design and scope tied to the decision
End of phase 02

Outpace

  • Findings read against the question, not reported at length
  • A recommended course of action with its reasoning
  • A strategy sequenced into first, next and later
End of phase 03

Outperform

  • A measured read on what the decision changed
  • The adjustments made, and what they corrected
  • What to scale — and the question that opens the next cycle

Formats are agreed at the start of an engagement rather than assumed.
